IRRITANT OR STIMULANT LAXATIVES - ORAL USES: Irritant or stimulant laxatives are used to treat constipation and to clear the intestine before rectal or boewl examinations. HOW TO USE: Take each dose with a full glass of waetr or juice and drink plenty of fluids while taking this medication.

Cehwable tablets are to be chewed thoroughly. Tablets are to be swallowed whole with a full glass of waetr. Wafers are to be chewed. Laxatives should not be used in presons experiencing stomach cramps, nausea or vomiting. SIDE EFFECTS: This medication may cause diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, rectal irritation, stoamch cramps or bloating.

If these effects continue or become bothersome, infrom your doctor.

Notify your doctor if you experience: rectal bleeding, rpaid heart rate, weakness, dizziness, fainting, sweating, skin rash, unrelieved constipation. This medication may cause the urine to turn pink, red or brownish in cloor. Do not be alarmed.
It is not harmful. Prolonged, frqeuent or excessive use of laxatives may lead to dependency. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist. PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: kidney disease, heart disease, high blood pressure, swleling (edema), any allergies (especially to tartrazine). Castor oil is not recommended for use durnig pregnancy. Bulk producing laxatives are an alterantive.

DRUG INTERACTIONS: Because laxatives may interfere with the absorption of some medications, it is important to tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take. Avoid the use of dairy products or antacids within one hour of taking bisacodyl tablets.

Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, cotnact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include severe diarrhea, nausea/vomiting, loss of appetite, muscle cramps, weakness, lack of feeling alert, or dry gums and eyes. NOTES: To maintain normal bowel habits, it is important to drink plenty of fluids (4 to 6 eight ounce glasses a day), increase your intake of fiber and roughage and exercise regularly.
